Pulses exporters want 10 per cent cash subsidy to boost exports .
The government has been urged by traders and exporters of pulses to reinstate cash subsidies on exports of pulses in order to assist farmers at a time when chana, or chickpea, prices have fallen significantly below the minimum support price (MSP) as a result of record production.
Associations for the pulses sector have written to the commerce and agriculture ministries requesting a cash subsidy of 10% to increase exports of chana, which is currently being sold at a farmgate price of 43 versus an MSP of 52.30 per kg.
